Deputy Mayor Lester A. Preston, Jr. began serving his first term on Township Committee in 2015. In 2017, he served as Mayor. In 2012, he retired from D.L. Ryan Companies, Ltd., one of the U.S.’. largest privately-held marketing companies, where he served as Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer with overall responsibility for all aspects of finance, technology, human resources, legal, facilities and administrative/office services. In 2011, the Company was sold, and Lester was a co-leader of the closing process.
Lester is a Life Member of the Freehold Fire Department, serving 27 years as a Member of Engine Hose and Company number 1. In addition to serving the Department as Treasurer and Secretary for the Relief Association, he is a past President, Treasurer and Ex-Captain of Engine Hose and Company number 1. He is a Co-Founder and Director of The Graeme Preston Foundation for Life. In addition to serving on the Freehold Township Recreation Commission, Lester is a former coach for the Freehold Soccer League as well as a coach in other local youth sports.
As the newest member of the Township Committee, Lester will be the liaison on the Lake Topanemus Commission, the Shade Tree Commission and to the Freehold Township Elementary School.
